Teede Tehnokeskus is a state-owned company. The Teede Tehnokeskus started as an independent research institution with a specialization on roads on April 1, 1964, when the laboratory, technical information group and research sector got separated from the Design and Survey Office of Transport and Road Ministry and formed a separate unit – the Central Laboratory of Road Construction. In following years other institutions were incorporated and other fields of activity were added to the company.
The designers were later united under the name Eesti Maanteeprojekt and the road laboratory became the Technical Centre of Estonian Road Administration. Eesti Maanteeprojekt was again incorporated into the Technical Centre of Estonian Road Administration on February 1, 1994. The Teede Tehnokeskus was founded on August 7, 2000 with the ordinance of Estonian Government concerning the reorganization of the Technical Centre of Estonian Road Administration.
On August 1, 2003 the centre EhitusTEST was incorporated into the Teede Tehnokeskus, which enabled to considerably broaden the range of laboratory tests.
